What is a CellSocket?
CellSocket is a cellular phone accessory that transforms your wireless phone into an additional telephone line. CellSocket allows you to make and receive cellular voice calls on a standard telephone in your home or office. It can also be used in vacation homes, dorm rooms, RVs, or on a boat. Its built in battery charger insures that your battery is always at full strength.
Is CellSocket compatible with my cell phone?
CellSocket is currently compatible with all Nokia 51xx and 61xx series cell phones. CellSocket is also compatible with Nokia models 3285, and 7160 cell phones, as well as the Nokia 6360 and 6310 handsets. Future CellSocket models are planned for other popular phones. Using your cell phone for long distance calling is quite economical. Most cellular providers offer flexible plans, tailored to your needs. Many plans include free calls on nights and weekends, as well as long-distance calling at no additional charge.

Home and office phones are more comfortable to use and have better sound quality than small cell phones. Leave your cell phone in CellSocket and carry your cordless phone around the house. Forget about cellular dead-spots while wandering around your home. Because your cell phone remains stationary, the call quality is more reliable. CellSocket recharges your cell phone so it is always fully charged and ready to go when you are.Can I use the CellSocket for my Internet/fax/modem/credit card terminal connections?
You will not be able use the CellSocket with the above. The reason is because it will not work on a digital cellular connection.
Digital cellular connections use compression algorithms that will not allow modem or fax tones to pass through the network. It may work on an analog connection. However, in the United States it is common for cellular service providers to deny an analog call to be made if a digital connection is available. We have a lot of interest in this, and may provide this capability in a future model.
What if I have safety concerns about radiation from cell phones?
If you have a concern about the safety of cell phones, remember that CellSocket keeps high-powered cell phone radiation at a distance.
Why is CellSocket better than just forwarding my cell phone number to my home or office phone number?
With CellSocket, you won't ever forget to do it, or to reverse the forward when you leave home or office. You can keep using your cell phone for outbound calls to take advantage of your free minutes and low-cost long distance that might be included in your cellular calling plan. Also when using CellSocket, your caller ID will show only your cell number and not your home phone number to anyone you call. Using CellSocket for outbound business calls allows you the convenience of speaking on your home phone yet billing to the call to the business cell account.
Do I need two-line phones to use a CellSocket?
Two-line (or multi-line) phones are required to conveniently access both your wireless and traditional wire-line service in your home or office. However, for dorm, RV, boat, or other applications where the cellular will be the only phone, single line telephone sets (either corded or cordless) will work just fine with CellSocket.
How will I know which phone is ringing?
Multi-line telephones usually feature distinctive ringing for each incoming line.
How do I install CellSocket in my home?
CellSocket is designed for desktop installation. Just plug a standard telephone, either single, or multi-line into the CellSocket using the supplied cord. Then, plug the included AC adapter into the CellSocket and a wall outlet. Drop your cell phone in, and your ready to make and receive calls.
What if I already have two traditional phone lines?
If the second line is connected only to your computer and used solely for internet access, installation is no different. If not, you should purchase a multi-line phone and treat CellSocket as one of the incoming lines. You can also set up your CellSocket as a seperate phone system by not connecting to any existing lines used for land line service.
How do I install CellSocket in an office?
For an office installation or any installation in which you will use your CellSocket with only one phone, just plug the CellSocket AC power adapter into the wall outlet and connect the phone connector (use the L1/L2 line input if its a multi-line phone). Lastly, connect the L1 connector of the multi-line phone into the telephone wall jack.
How will my home answering machine and cellular voice mail work?
Unanswered calls are received on your home or office answering machine (or telephone messaging service) as before. Unanswered calls to your cellular number will automatically be routed to whatever voice mail message service you have set up for that cellular number. If you do not have cellular voice mail service, you may want to use a multi-line answering machine on your CellSocket.
How does call waiting work on the CellSocket?
If the call waiting tone is heard while using your CellSocket, simply press the Flash button on the telephone. This works just like call waiting on a traditional telephone.
What about caller ID?Caller ID works with GSM cell phones only at this time. You also need a telephone that supports caller ID to display the incomming numbers. If you do not have a GSM cell phone then the telephone will display CellSocket in the caller ID field.
Can I use CellSocket in my vacation home, RV, or boat?
Absolutely yes. Using CellSocket in a second home (or RV or boat) is an ideal application. Why maintain continuous phone service if you will only use it occasionally? Simply drop your cell phone into CellSocket when you get to your vacation home and use it with your regular phone. You can even cancel your wired phone service and save. In fact, if you monthly phone bill in your second home were running $25 per month, you would save $300 per year. This more than pays for the cost of the CellSocket.
It sounds like some people wont need the traditional phone company anymore.
Some people could drop their traditional phone service. Then they could use just one cell phone number. They would receive all their calls, whether at home or on the go, and would have all their messages handled in one voice mailbox. Some people could use CellSocket for their teen-agers cell phones.
